Hot Zone Technician 3.7 3.7 out of 5 stars Ayer, MA 01432 Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Reads and interprets mechanical drawings, schematics, and bill of materials to facilitate the fabrication / assembly of AVS’s products / services. Utilizes carpentry skills to fabricate and assemble graphite hotzones. Identifies and utilizes a variety of fittings used on AVS equipment (low pressure / high pressure) Operates material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks overhead cranes, etc.) Installs graphite heater assemblies per AVS drawings and specifications. Operates a variety of power tools to facilitate the fabrication of hotzones (table saw, miter saw, router, drill press, grinder, nail gun, etc.) Fabricates assembles and installs metal hotzone assemblies per AVS drawings and specifications. Performs field service work outside of AVS to facilitate the repair and or installation of customers equipment on an as needed basis. Competencies Technical Capacity. Communication Proficiency. Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., 40 hours per week. Travel This position requires the candidate be willing and able to travel within the USA and Internationally. Travel will account for approximately 15% – 20% of their working time. Required Education and Experience 1. High school diploma or GED 2. At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment 3. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings 4. Experience with using various power tools to include table saw, router, miter saw, grinder, nail gun, etc. 5. Basic carpentry skills Preferred Education and Experience 5 years of experience in related field Experience working with vacuum / pressure vessels Experience operating various material handling equipment (overhead cranes, forklifts, etc.) Experience working with large equipment / machinery.
