Position:
RF Field Service Technician Pay Rate:
$40/hour
Assignment Type:
Temp-to-Hire (6 Months)
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM + 10%
On-Call Rotation Location:
Field-based across NYC (5 boroughs) and North Jersey – must reside nearby due to critical on-call response times
Travel:
Required; includes driving a company vehicle (valid license required, ≤5 points). Personal vehicle use initially with mileage reimbursement.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 60 lbs
Drug Test:
Full-panel drug test required (safety-sensitive role) Position Overview Support mission-critical public safety communications systems across NYC by diagnosing and resolving RF interference and wireless communication issues. Work hands-on in the field with customers to maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize LMR, LTE, GPS, and other wireless systems that support emergency operations. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and mitigate RF interference and illegal jamming. Install, maintain, and service RF and IT network equipment in the field. Troubleshoot base stations, repeaters, and cellular/radio coverage issues. Perform maintenance on software-driven RF systems and broadband hardware. Conduct server and network maintenance, including routers and switches. Utilize diagnostic tools (spectrum analyzers, watt meters, FDRs, etc.). Generate weekly performance reports and complete administrative tasks. Collaborate with internal teams (Engineering, Sales, Project Management). Respond to after-hours service calls as part of the on-call rotation. Required Qualifications Associate degree in IT or related field 3-7 years of experience in RF communications or wireless systems Strong technical knowledge of RF interference, LMR, LTE, and GPS systems Hands-on skills with RF diagnostic tools and communications hardware Proficient in IP-based programs: PuTTY, WinSCP, T1 testing, Anritsu, backhaul Networking experience (LAN/WAN, routers, switches, firewalls) Excellent communication, independence, and customer service abilities Must be eligible for CJIS background clearance and drug screening Preferred Skills Experience with P25 systems and analog/legacy LMR equipment Background in public safety or commercial wired/wireless communications Familiarity with public safety operations and emergency protocols Ability to operate advanced RF testing equipment
