SCHEDULE
1:00 PM – 9:30 PM
PRIMARY FUNCTION
Primarily responsible for maintaining, operating, inspecting, and repairing various types of ammonia refrigeration equipment for a poultry processing plant. Performs preventative and predictive maintenance; periodically tests and inspects to verify equipment is operating within manufacturer’s specifications and tolerances; troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs as needed. Performs all work in compliance with company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Under direct supervision, assist in the daily operations of the ammonia refrigeration compressor room. Take and record required system readings; understand the implications of variances and report to appropriate personnel/leader. Perform basic maintenance as directed. Identify unsafe conditions and report to appropriate personnel. Work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations. All other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent. Required to pass NOCTI HVAC/Refrigeration test, Level
I. EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Intermediate math and computer skills. Basic understanding of ammonia refrigeration equipment. Basic knowledge of electrical and general mechanical systems. Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivate. Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and extended shift hours. Sound work ethic, honesty and moral character.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times in areas where required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Stand up to 8 hours. Lift up to 60 lbs. May be exposed to heat (99ºF, 37ºC) and cold (45ºF, 4ºC). Exposure to wet and dusty environment. Frequently reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling and crawling. Work around raw, live animal odors.
