NON-EXEMPT Position Description:

The Refrigeration Ammonia Technician position is responsible for locating and diagnosing problems on equipment and completing repairs on certain equipment items.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Installing and repairing refrigeration systems according to blueprints and engineering specifications.
• Making periodic inspection of equipment and system to observe operating condition and need for repair or adjustment.
• Diagnosing problems, replacing defective parts and components and reassembling refrigeration units to work order and blueprint specifications.
• Performing scheduled maintenance repairs of refrigeration equipment including repairing ammonia leaks, repacking valves, replacing bearings and other components such as motors.
• Maintaining all records and documentation regarding PMS (Process Safety Management) to maintain compliance with OSHA regulations.
• Maintaining clean and orderly work areas.
• Adhere to company policies, safety regulations, and OSHA requirements. Education/Experience Requirements
• Previous work experience of ammonia refrigeration is preferred.
• General knowledge of various types of mechanical equipment.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions & policies.
• Must be organized, self-motivated, safety oriented and able to multitask.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
• Must have a flexible schedule, willing to work rotating shifts.
• Must supply personal hand tools.

Physical Requirements/Environmental Conditions:

• Standing (8 hours a day or more).
• Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling (up to and including 65lbs or more).
• May work in damp, and seasonably cold or warm environment
• Work with loud and noisy machinery.
• May be exposed to all chemicals used in poultry, food, processing facilities.

Job Type:

Full-time Pay:

$20.00 – $35.00 per hour
