On-Site, Calvert, Alabama About You You are a craftsman skilled in all aspects of refractory material and installation. You are both motivated and hard-working and collaborate with teammates to achieve results. Health and Safety is a top priority and you are reliable and committed to producing quality work. This position is located in Calvert, Al. In addition, you have: 2+ years refractory work experience preferred but not required High School Diploma / GED Relevant educational background eg. Refractory or Masonry qualification preferred Welding, masonery, use of hand tools, forming & pouring,; practical experience is advantageous Posesses RHI Magnesita’s core values: passion, integrity, hard work and professionalism About the job As a Refractory Mason you will be responsible for tearing out and installing refractory/brick in our customer’s steel plant.

Your tasks will include:

Installation of brick and refractory lining into a variety of equipment Use of hand tools: hammer, ladder, level, trowel, drill, brick saw and tape measure. Leveling and installing brick, starter sets, large castable blocks and ramming material Maintaining and building slide gates for both ladle and tundish Welding, cutting, grinding, installing anchors, forming and pouring Installation of refractory products using various applications including, gunning and shotcrete applications Maintain a clean and safe work environment Performs preventative maintenance on equipment rotary guns, jack hammers and brick saws Operate equipment and machinery including but not limited to forklifts, overhead crane, skid-steer, grant machine and scissor lift. Responsible for wearing proper PPE at all times and following all safety rules Physical Requirements Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours per day Must be able to lift 50lb as needed Must be able to go up and down ladders, steps, or other lifts as needed Must be able to perform various tasks in confined spaces and elevations.
