Wildwood Small Engine Repair is seeking a skilled and reliable technician with at least 2 years of hands-on experience working on 4-stroke small engines to join our team as a 1099 Independent Contractor. The candidate will play a crucial role in diagnosing and repairing a variety of small engines, from ATVs and snow blowers to riding mowers and commercial-grade equipment, including brands like Kawasaki, John Deere, Kohler, Honda, and similar . You must be capable of diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines independently. We highly value strong customer service skills and reliability.
Tool Requirements:
You must own and bring your own tools , including but not limited to:
Socket Sets Wrenches & Pliers:
Standard and metric wrenches Various pliers Allen wrenches (metric and standard)
Specialty Tools & Equipment:
Spark plug sockets Screwdrivers (large and small sets) Impact drivers (1/2 inch and 1/4 inch, battery-powered) Grinder Torque wrench Feeler gauges Compression tester Fuel line clamps Spark plug gap Tool Magnetic tray Air compressor with air tools (optional but preferred) Grease gun Work light or headlamp Rubber mallet Tap and die set Drill and drill bits Wire brush Utility knife Wire strippers and crimpers Jack stands Floor jack (1-2 ton, lightweight preferred) Oil pump and oil container Jumper cables or jump box Multimeter Power Probe Safety gear (gloves, safety glasses, ear protection) Toolboxes to organize and transport your tools
Availability:
Must be available a minimum of 3 days per week Expect to handle 3-4 service calls per day Must be willing to travel within a 30-40 mile radius
Background Check Requirement:
- Must be able to pass a background check No sexual offenses, violent crimes, or financial criminal charges
- Must be able to hold or obtain Liability Insurance within first 90 days
Responsibilities:
Small Engine Repairs:
Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on a variety of small engines, including but not limited to ATVs, snow blowers, riding mowers, generators, push mowers, and commercial equipment.
Carburetor Build:
Specialized expertise in carburetor builds, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency of engines.
Equipment Maintenance :
Conduct routine maintenance procedures to enhance the longevity and functionality of small engines.
Own Tools and Vehicle:
The successful candidate must possess their own set of tools and a reliable vehicle for transportation to various job locations.
Technical Background:
Ideal candidates should have a proven background in small engine repair, with hands-on experience and proficiency in diagnosing and resolving issues.
Motivated and Independent:
Ability to work independently, demonstrating a high level of motivation and responsibility in managing assigned tasks and schedules.
Customer Service Excellence:
Interact with customers in a courteous and professional manner. Clearly communicate the diagnosis, required repairs, and estimated timelines for completion. Address customer inquiries and concerns with patience and clarity.
