JOB DESCRIPTION
Under close supervision, performs skilled work in maintaining the City’s public sanitary sewer collection system and its infrastructure, equipment, and related components.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma or GED. Experience in Public Utilities is desired. Must have FDEP Wastewater Collection Operator C License or the ability to obtain the license within 18 months. Requires a valid Florida CDL Class B license with air brake endorsement to be obtained within twelve (12) months of date of hire. Work is performed outside in the elements daily, often in conditions such as extreme heat, cold, wind, rain, and mud. Work involves performing tasks in uncomfortable and confined spaces with periodic exposure to a variety of hazards. Regularly lifts objects weighing over 40 pounds and occasionally lifts objects weighing up to 80 pounds.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Actively and pro-actively participates in the installation, maintenance, testing, inspecting, repair, and restoration of the City’s sanitary sewer collection system and its components, including but not limited to: lift stations, force mains, gravity mains, manholes, taps, lateral connections, and cleanouts. Safely operates a variety of heavy construction equipment, power tools, etc. Ensures maintenance, care, and inventory of assigned materials, supplies, tools, and equipment. Ensures proper use of and care for personal protective equipment and safety devices. Maintains thorough and accurate records and data entry on a daily basis. Receives supervision and instruction from Foremen and Senior Utility Technicians. Responds to and effectively resolves customer reported issues and concerns in a timely and courteous manner. Exercises awareness of and compliance with Division, Departmental, and City Rules & Regulations; standard safety practices; and occupational hazards. Must meet schedule and attendance standards: regular hours, standby overtime, and callout overtime as required. Performs related Public Works duties as assigned.
