Position Summary The Packaging Service Technician supports the company’s sale of equipment and ongoing materials by providing technical service and expertise to their customers. They deliver value to customers by maintaining their equipment performance and reducing their operating costs. They are primarily responsible for in-field service and repair of customer’s packaging equipment with a heavy focus on quick responses to customer’s needs as well as performing scheduled preventative maintenance service calls.
Primary Responsibilities Technical Service:
Respond to the customer and accept assigned service tasks from the Service Administrator to service packaging equipment. Troubleshoots and resolves machine problems to keep customer’s equipment running at peak performance.
Customer Service:
Represents the company in building customer relationships with the sales force to enhance company sales.
Installation and Demo Equipment:
Install equipment at the customer’s location. Provides training on operation, maintenance and safe operation.
Preventative Maintenance:
Establishes scheduled PM calls with the customer.
Administrative:
Communicates scheduled service calls and progress to the Service Administrator to be logged on the service calendar. Completes service work orders on a timely basis for billing.
Parts Inventory:
Recommends the selection of machine parts to be stocked in inventory.
In Shop Repair:
Services all demo and used equipment and prepares equipment for shipment. Labels all machinery with the Morrisette service decal. Works with the Packaging Manager and the sales force to assist in the sales process. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications – Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities High School Diploma or equivalent Prior industry experience preferred Strong background in machinery repair and troubleshooting with mechanical and electrical knowledge Prior PLC programming experience preferred Travel to customers within region as well as in-shop repair Must possess a valid state motor vehicle operator’s license Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. Exposure to the environments of customer facilities Fast-paced environment subject to numerous schedule and priority changes and short notice activity Must be consistent, positive personality and dependable nature Must have a willingness to learn and the ability to work independently Strong problem solving skills especially with mechanical and electrical issues
