Service Technician The Trailer Center Inc 1451 Pittsford Victor Rd, Pittsford, NY 14534 Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Service Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge and experience in various service areas, including trailers, outdoor power equipment and auto accessory installations. This role requires a hands-on approach to diagnosing service repairs and resolving issues.
Service Technician Responsibilities:
- Electrical trouble shooting; trailer wiring
- Perform routine maintenance on trailers/plows and determine condition by conducting inspections and diagnostic tests.
- Repair trailer brakes, perform suspension work (replace springs, U-bolts, radius rods, equalizer, etc)
- Install auto/truck accessories including, but not limited to: A.R.E Truck Caps, Tonneau Cover, Side Steps, Lights, Cargo Glide, Back Rack, Tow Hitch, Transfer Flow Tank, Suspension lift kits, etc –
- Keep records of inspections, test results, work performed, and parts used on work order.
- Discuss equipment issues, maintenance plans, and work performed with Shop Manager and Customers as needed.
Customer-service skills:
Occasionally discuss problems and necessary repairs with customers.
Detail oriented:
Must be aware of small details when inspecting or repairing Equipment.
Dexterity:
Must have a steady hand and good hand-eye coordination for many tasks, such as disassembling parts, connecting or attaching components, and using hand tools.
Mechanical skills:
Must be familiar with Trailer components, such as but not limited to: Inspection, Repack bearings, wiring, Brake system, Hydraulic system, etc and know how they interact with each other. Mechanic will often disassemble major parts for repairs, and must be able to put them back together properly.
Organizational skills:
Keep work spaces clean and organized in order to maintain safety and ensure accountability for parts.
Troubleshooting skills:
Use diagnostic equipment on equipment and components to identify and fix problems. They must be familiar with electronic control systems and the appropriate tools needed to fix and maintain them.
