Job Description
Description The Service Technician is responsible for the service, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of access control equipment and IP-based video systems. This includes electrified and non-electrified locks, card readers, ancillary door devices, IP and analog cameras, head-end video recording devices, wired and wireless systems, and intercom systems. The role requires a proactive and skilled individual who consistently performs in alignment with core values.
Key Responsibilities:
Service and Repair:
Perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on various security systems, including locks, card readers, cameras, and intercoms.
Diagnostics:
Identify and resolve issues with system installations, ensuring compliance with building codes.
Documentation:
Maintain accurate records of service-related issues.
Tool Usage:
Safely operate hand and power tools, test equipment, and CCTV testing devices.
Technical Proficiency:
Read and interpret electrical schematics, CAD drawings, and related documents for low-voltage applications.
Customer Relations:
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers, providing remote diagnostic support when needed.
Additional Duties:
Perform other tasks as assigned by Operations Management.
Qualifications:
Certification:
NICET 1 certification or willingness to obtain.
Experience:
2-3 years of experience servicing commercial electronic security systems, including access control, video management, intrusion detection, and fire systems/alarms.
On-Call:
Ability to respond to emergency service calls on a rotational basis.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work on ladders up to 16 feet.
Driving:
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Education:
High School Degree, Vocational School, or equivalent.
Skills:
Strong troubleshooting skills, mechanical and electronic aptitude, excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and understanding of Windows operating systems and IT network topology.
Work Environment:
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
Location:
Primarily customer sites in Beaufort County, with occasional travel to Charleston or Savannah.
Primary Focus:
Beaufort County school systems.
