Full Job Description Job Summary:
Aerial Telecom Lineman is responsible for the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead telecom infrastructure. This includes tasks such as setting poles, hanging cable, installing hardware, and ensuring safe and efficient aerial fiber or copper deployment. Crew members must work well in physically demanding environments and follow safety protocols at all times.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and maintain aerial telecommunications cable (fiber and/or copper). Climb utility poles using ladders, gaffs, or bucket trucks. Use hand tools, mechanical tools, and safety gear to complete work efficiently and safely. Lash and de-lash cables, install strand, pull fiber, and make terminations as needed. Interpret and follow job prints, maps, and work orders. Perform traffic control duties when needed, following DOT guidelines. Inspect, maintain, and report equipment condition. Ensure compliance with company, industry, and OSHA safety standards. Communicate with team members and supervisors to complete tasks on time.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED (preferred). 1+ years of experience in telecom or utility aerial construction (preferred). Ability to climb poles and work at heights for extended periods. Knowledge of aerial construction equipment (e.g., lashers, rollers, hoists, hand lines). CDL Class A or B license (preferred or required, depending on position). Ability to read and understand construction prints and schematics. Strong commitment to safety and teamwork.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift 50 lbs regularly. Frequent walking, climbing, bending, and standing. Ability to work in all weather conditions. Must be able to pass background check and drug screening.
Work Schedule & Conditions:
40+ hours per week; occasional weekends or overtime may be required. Field-based role with travel to various job sites. Per diem or travel reimbursement may apply based on project location.
