out of 5 stars Hollywood, FL The Broadband Technician I (BBT II) employee is a mid-level technician position within the company responsible for advanced installations and troubleshooting within the home/premise.

Specific Job Duties :

Performs all duties of the BBT I position, including reconnects, disconnects, change of service requests, installs Dish and IPTV-based set-top boxes (STB), cable modems, multimedia terminal adapters, Dish Network-based L-Band systems, phone service, and various wireless CPE. Installs advanced FTTH systems, including the installation and activation of optical network terminals (ONT), MoCA-based wireless adapters, and battery backup equipment, and complete all necessary wiring, including fiber, Ethernet cable, coaxial cable, and power wire to activate the system. Performs advanced troubleshooting of DOCSIS and RF services to the distribution system’s tap or main termination point. Performs advanced troubleshooting and testing on fiber services at the customer’s home back to the distribution system. Handles business and VIP customer installations and service calls, including

IPTV, DISH

Network, internet wired and wireless services, and RF-based services. Works with Engineering and Service Technicians to install and/or troubleshoot new or existing wireless networks operated by the company. Understands the principles of line extenders, taps, and directional couplers and can interact with Service Technicians to help diagnose issues. Understands the principles and basic functionality of an FTTx system and can interact with Service Technicians to help diagnose issues. Works with advanced signal level meters, PON meters, and fiber power meters to troubleshoot and verify various customer services. Understands and utilizes a TDR to facilitate the repair of damaged underground cabling at the home or premise. Understands and utilizes advanced signal level reading such as BER, MER, and CNR to diagnose premise issues. Acts as a mentor assisting the Broadband Technician I in daily tasks and assignments, providing guidance and education on proper techniques and safe and efficient work practices.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate at heights up to 40 feet using extension ladders and/or bucket trucks. Ability to work while standing 50-70% of the time. Work in all weather conditions and various spaces, such as attics and crawl spaces. Work in areas near power lines and active electrical services. Familiarity with computer operating systems and a variety of customer devices, including smartphones, computers, routers, modems, set-top boxes, and wireless devices. Ability to and willingness to learn to use various handheld devices, including signal level meters, spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meters, as well as computer-provided laptops and various software. A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record that falls within company requirements. Must be able to travel to and from assigned territories and company facilities, Completes all necessary paperwork associated with all jobs during his/her shift Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary.
