Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Hardware Support Specialist thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Jacksonville, FL.

Responsibilities:
This person will be an integral part of the CSX project team, responsible for the maintenance and implementation of the CAD system hardware.
Accountabilities:
1. Coordination of all maintenance services. a. Maintain all CAD workstations and related equipment such as LCD monitors, Video graphic cards, Fiber network cards, hard drives, keyboards and mice. b. Coordinate upgrades to CAD workstations and associated equipment. c. Report system problems to CSX Project Manager. d. Schedule Subcontractors to perform services. Review and approve these services. e. Support of Red Hat Linux operating system changes and upgrades. 2. Support of and coordination with CSXT personal who are responsible for performing CSXT maintenance obligations. a. Analyze system problems, ie: hardware, software and field. b. LCD monitor refresh. c. Dispatcher workstation refresh. d. Schedule routine preventative maintenance and cleaning of CAD hardware systems. 3. Field installation of CAD and Web Browser systems. a. Travel to field locations. 4. Performance of inspection, adjustment and repair of CAD hardware. a. Coordinate warranty repair of CAD hardware systems. b. Maintain configuration adjustment of monitors and printers. c. Document all equipment failures. 5. Management of on-site spare parts inventory. a. Maintain inventory list of spares. b. Maintain 100% availability of spares local and remote sites. c. Maintain off the shelf spares pre-configured for replacement. d. Maintain storage room for spare parts and supplies. 6. Presentation of on-site training courses and related instruction. a. Training classes for new Electronic Signal Specialist’s. To cover operation, setup, troubleshooting of CAD related equipment. b. On the job training during system refresh, redesign, add-ons and modifications. 7. Retention of Headquarters support services, as required. 8. On-call availability, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week with a maximum 4 hour response time. a. Cellular phone. 9. Coordination of all new projects on site and in the field. a. Project review and specification with CSX. b. Provide estimates, design, purchase requisitions, receiving/stocking material, installation, testing, documentation and training. 10. On site tour representative for potential Hitachi STS customers. 11. Monitor system performance and make recommendation of modifications and upgrades. 12. Generate monthly Status reports to Hitachi STS Project Manager. a. Include accomplishments, problems and following month plans. 13. Maintain a complete set of documentation on-site. a. Coordinate hardware drawing changes. b. Replace third party vendor documents with most current.
Required skills/experience:
This position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience managing PCs, hardware and workstations. Knowledge of Windows and Unix commands and utilities is essential in analyzing system problems, as well an understanding of the hardware system configuration and operation of equipment.
Education:
4 year college (or technical school) degree – or relevant/relatable experience
