The Broadband Technician I (BBT I) employee is an entry-level position responsible for the primary customer premise and installation of fiber, cable, modem, and other telecommunications.

Fiber Technician Duties :

Perform Fiber, Cable, and modem installation, reconnects, disconnects, change of service requests, and pre-wires or post-wires single dwelling units and multiple dwelling units (MDUs) to provide service to all rooms within the customer’s home. Installs customer premise equipment (CPE) including Dish Network-based set-top boxes (STB), IPTV STBs, DOCSIS modems, Fiber and other various CPE within the home. Installation if Dish Network-based satellite L-Band systems as needed including mounting and alignment of the antenna, wiring the home/location properly, and installing all necessary CPE Installation of phone service by punching down service at the main demarcation point at the home or through the use of a multimedia terminal adapter (MTA). Use industry-standard tools to install connectors, fasteners, and various hardware to accomplish the installation. Use various signal level meters to verify quality of service (QoS) parameters. Perform basic service telecommunication troubleshooting within the home back to the main demarcation point within the premise. Provides the customer with materials regarding fiber optic, channel lineup, use of STBs, use of broadband telecommunication services, and company policies as they relate to the customer it also demonstrates these skills to educate the customer on the use of the equipment and company guidelines. Communicates with customers clearly and straightforwardly—proven ability to work independently and to prioritize and organize effectively.

Minimum Job Requirements of Fiber Technician:

Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and operate at heights up to 40 feet using extension ladders and/or bucket trucks. Ability to work while standing 50-70% of the time. Work in all weather conditions and various spaces such as attics and crawl spaces. Work in areas near power lines and active electrical services. Familiarity with computer operating systems and a variety of customer devices. Ability to and willingness to learn to use various handheld devices including signal level meters, spectrum analyzers, digital multi-meters as well as computer-provided laptops and various software. A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record that falls within company requirements. Completes all necessary paperwork associated with all jobs during his/her shift Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime as necessary. Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays. Able to work a rotating on-call schedule •
