Working as a Field Technician I in Smartlink’s Technology Solutions Division, you will support wireless telecommunication infrastructure projects such as: In building, rooftops, and tower sites (No cell tower climbing). The desired candidate will have team experience, customer interface, fiber pulling, dressing cables, and project closeouts. Experience with fiber testing preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Install, assemble, integrate, program, maintain, decommission, and repair wireless telecommunications and network equipment and systems to include:
- CAT5, CAT6, routers, twisted pair, optical fiber, and assorted sizes of power and other cable, through conduit, in cable tray, above ceilings and between floors.
- DC Power Plants and Rectifiers, LMU’s, BTS (2G, 3G and 4G), MCPA’s, RF Filters, Duplexers, Backhaul (copper, fiber, and microwave) and routers.
- Complete all functions of standard cell site acceptance, receive, equipment installation, and cabling.
- Work as a lead on projects, maintaining trackers and providing updates to management.
- Proactively address internal and external issues with supervisor and offer effective solutions.
- Conduct test procedures with various types of test equipment.
- Perform tasks in adherence to company procedures, OEM and customer standards, and safe work practices.
- Perform fabrication and termination of cables/connectors.
- Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
- Complete, maintain, and process pertinent paperwork and records.
- Provide training on policies and procedures for coworkers, as needed.
- Complete required entries and paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate and thorough project files, project trackers and provide updates to management.
- Properly operate and maintain several types of test equipment and report need for repair of calibration.
- Effectively manage deliverables, timelines, risks and dependencies on project(s) that are in line with statement of work.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Job Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- 2+ years of related experience and/or training. Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted.
- Technical and mechanical skills required. Experience with wireless telecom fiber installation, router upgrades, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and DC power installation, modification, and upgrades is a plus.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong organizational and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, and knowledge of testing equipment.
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions and at various hours.
- Ability to work autonomously and troubleshoot tasks and issues.
- Customer service oriented and team leader experience.
- Possess a willingness to learn and be dependable.
- Professional attitude and appearance.
- Reliable vehicle.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, or hike for extended periods of time and long distances, bend, reach, and carry items weighing up to 25 lbs.
