Job Description
A prominent university in the area is hiring for an Installation Engineer. Installation Engineer Job Description Design, configuration, installation, programming and maintenance of audio video solutions for classrooms and event spaces. Audio Video control and switching Display Technologies Audio systems Manage and facilitate the physical installation of all networking equipment: Network switches Wireless access points Telephones Manage and facilitate the physical installation of all physical security equipment. Surveillance cameras Access control devices Manage and facilitate the installation all structured cabling. Single-Mode Fiber Optic Multi-Mode Fiber Optic Cat6, Cat6E, etc All other Low Voltage cabling Cable Pathway and Management Network Closet racking and related components Provide 2nd and 3rd level support to research, diagnose and resolve technical issues with all audio video solutions. Provide 1st and 2nd level support to research, diagnose and resolve technical issues with all networking, physical security, and structured cabling solutions. Create, maintain, and update documentation of all of the above and below, including inventory management.
Assist in maintaining vendor relationships:
Assist in managing wiring and installation contractors. Assist in managing all outside network consultants and vendors. May be required to participate on various ad-hoc committees and participate in various University wide activities and initiatives. Assist in setting security standards, processes, procedures, and policies and recommends appropriate changes to policies and procedures to meet new standards. Collaborate in the planning of major technology initiatives and in the communication of planned and unexpected technology changes to the campus community. Take an active role in the development of the department’s strategic and operational plans as required by department leadership. Works closely with department supervisor to develop and implement operational goals that support departmental success. Work with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and department goals and key performance indicators. May perform other related duties as assigned. Additional Skills & Qualifications Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in computer science, Telecommunications, or a related field. A combination of education and experience will also be considered. Installation experience is preferred. Experience in networking is preferred. Experience with Wi-Fi is preferred. Experience with access control is preferred. Experience with voice communication networking is preferred. Length and quality of experience may be considered in lieu of a current degree.
