Mounting and dismounting tires from wheels. Balancing tires and wheels. Repairing punctures or leaks. Rotating tires for even wear. Installing new tires on vehicles (cars, trucks, or commercial vehicles). Using tire machines and balancing equipment. Performing basic alignment checks (in some shops). Keeping work areas clean and organized. Typical Job Requirements Experience & Education High school diploma or GED (often required). On-the-job training is common; certification is a plus (e.g., TIA Certified Tire Technician). Prior mechanical or tire service experience preferred but not always required. _ Skills _ Mechanical aptitude. Ability to lift heavy items (tires, wheels). Comfort using tire changers, balancers, and hand tools. Basic customer service (in retail tire shops). Attention to safety and detail. Work Environment Tire shops, auto repair centers, dealerships, or fleet maintenance facilities. May involve standing for long periods, working outdoors or in garages. Work can be fast-paced and physically demanding.
