Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Tractor Operator to join our Roadway Maintenance Division . This position involves operating tractors and related equipment to mow, clear, and maintain vegetation along county roads, medians, shoulders, and right-of-ways.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely operate tractors with various attachments (mowers, bush hogs, flail mowers, etc.) for roadside vegetation control. Perform daily equipment inspections and basic maintenance (fluid checks, tire pressure, grease fittings). Transport equipment using trailers to and from job sites. Maintain clear and safe work zones in compliance with MOT (Maintenance of Traffic) standards. Follow designated mowing schedules, routes, and safety protocols. Report any hazards, damages, or incidents to supervisors immediately. Assist with manual labor tasks when needed (debris removal, hand trimming, etc.). Accurately complete daily work logs and timesheets. Communicate effectively with supervisors and crew members.
Qualifications:
Valid Driver’s License (CDL preferred but not required). Experience operating tractors or heavy equipment in a commercial or municipal setting. Familiarity with roadside mowing or right-of-way maintenance is a plus. Knowledge of safe equipment operation and traffic safety protocols. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Willingness to travel within the county for job assignments. Must pass pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Certification Work Schedule:
Monday-Thursday, 7:00 AM to 5 PM (occasional overtime or weekend work may be required)
