As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will play a crucial role in preserving the park’s infrastructure, from repairing equipment and facilities to addressing any issues that arise, all while upholding the highest standards of safety and efficiency. This position offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic, outdoor environment, where you can utilize your technical skills and problem-solving abilities to make a tangible difference in the lives of our visitors.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
The employee engages in a range of tasks across various trades at a sub-journey level, focusing on the maintenance and repair of public buildings and equipment. This role encompasses routine minor repairs that require only general supervision, as well as more complex tasks that involve assisting skilled tradespeople in their maintenance activities. Responsibilities include operating and maintaining vehicles and equipment utilized throughout the park, ensuring they are clean and in good working order. Ground maintenance duties are also a significant part of the job, which involve mowing grass, trimming weeds, cutting firewood, and managing litter by collecting and disposing of trash from park areas, parking lots, and roadways. The employee is tasked with site preparation, seeding new turf, and caring for trees and shrubs, contributing to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the park. Additionally, the employee is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in park buildings and facilities, utilizing appropriate custodial equipment to ensure sanitary conditions in restrooms, washhouses, and offices. This includes routine housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, restocking supplies, and performing minor repairs like changing light bulbs or tightening fixtures. The employee must also ensure the safe and proper use of all tools and equipment, including power and hand tools. Furthermore, the role involves assisting a Maintenance Repairman 2 in the construction and upkeep of buildings and facilities, which includes performing electrical work such as repairing various electrical systems, replacing switches and fixtures, and installing electrical panels and fuses, thereby supporting the overall maintenance and functionality of the park’s infrastructure.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
This position requires the employee to work all days of the week. Work schedule may vary and include weekends, evenings, holidays, and all shifts as necessary within a 37.5 hour work week.
Telework:

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirements:
You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License.
