GENERAL SUMMARY

To perform efficient construction, operations, and maintenance work on power lines. To become familiar with the basic line work and Cooperative practices. To effectively represent the Cooperative to consumers and complete necessary records. To attend training classes and perform other related duties as requested.

• RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

• UNDER

DIRECT SUPERVISION

• Becomes familiar with safety and first aid practices, procedures, and rules.

Becomes familiar with and trained in the system map reading.

Unloads and loads poles.

Unloads and Loads wire, reels, and other material and supplies used.

Becomes familiar with records required, such as time sheets, meter orders, transformer records, and other as required.

Digs pole holes by hand when required.

Frame poles on the ground.

Assists in setting poles on de-energized lines.

Install anchors and ground rods.

Learns the proper use of hand lines and tool bags.

Strings out conductor on the ground from stationary or movable reels.

Splices conductor on the ground on de-energized lines.

Assists in pulling up transformer with the proper lines.

Reads meters and familiarize himself with collection andoperations procedures.

Trims trees on de-energized lines under close supervision.

Installs wire holders and brackets on buildings.

Manipulates winch line when instructed to do so by his immediate supervisor.

Connects weatherheads of de-energized services.

Operates transportation units in a safe manner and maintains tools and work equipment assigned in a neat, safe, and orderly manner.

Familiarizes himself with the required tools, equipment, and materials.

Connects guys to anchors and pulls to proper tension afterthe guy has been attached to pole and grounded and when under supervision of a Journeyman Lineman.
