Full Job Description Job Summary:
We’re seeking a skilled Crane Technician to join our team. As a Crane Technician, you’ll be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and repairing cranes and hoisting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. This role requires a strong understanding of crane mechanics, electrical systems, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and test cranes and hoisting equipment to identify defects or wear
- Perform routine maintenance, repairs, and replacements of crane components, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with crane operations, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems
- Conduct load tests and annual inspections to ensure crane safety and compliance
- Collaborate with crane operators and other technicians to identify and resolve issues
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance plans to minimize downtime and extend equipment life
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and industry standards
Requirements:
- 2-5 years of experience in crane maintenance, repair, or inspection
- Strong knowledge of crane mechanics, electrical systems, and safety protocols
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics
- Physical ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Certification in crane inspection or repair (e.
g., NCCCO, OSHA) is a plus
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in a related field (e.g., mechanical engineering, electrical engineering)
- Manufacturer-specific training or certification (e.g., Liebherr, Terex, Manitowoc)
- Experience with crane simulation software or computerized maintenance management systems
Work Environment:
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions and in a warehouse or shop setting
- Frequent travel may be required to perform on-site inspections or repairs
- Must be able to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods
