  • Tanaq Construction, LLC (TCL) is an Alaskan-village owned small business, certified under the U.

S. Small Business Administration 8(a) program. TCL is a wholly-owned subsidiary of St. George Tanaq Corporation. TCL provides a variety of construction and environmental construction services. As prime contractors, we provide project management services for design-build and bid-build horizontal and interior repair/renovation projects. We have in-house tradesmen to self-perform rebar, drywall, paint, site work, excavation and landscaping.

  • Tanaq is seeking a part-time
  • Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technician II
  • for a project that provides Munitions Response support at Eglin AFB in Florida.

Candidates must meet the criteria for, and be competent in, the functions of a UXO-TI, and UXO-TII as defined by

DDESB TP-18.

This is a 100% onsite position.

  • Responsibilities
  • + Conduct visual and/or detector-aided anomaly avoidance.

+ Perform visual sweeps and intrusive investigations using traditional excavation methods. + Applicant must be able to safely and efficiently excavate holes in uncleared area potentially containing UXO. + Applicant must be comfortable with the analysis and identification of Key ID features and safety precautions of ordnance. + Applicant MUST be proficient in the operation and troubleshooting of the following instruments and techniques:

  • Schonstedt and/or Subsurface Instruments Ferrous Metal Detectors
  • Handheld all-metals detectors
  • Target re-acquisition using on-site GPS equipment + Position may require walking/hiking long distances, loading and unloading heavy equipment, and carrying/pulling equipment across unimproved terrain. + Applicant may be required to assist in the preparation of paperwork and documentation related to site activities.
  • Other Duties may include:
  • + Operate modes of transportation for safely transporting UXO personnel and equipment. + Assist sampling techs with soil sampling activities. Requirements
  • Qualifications and Experience
  • + Must meet Qualified Personnel requirements for a UXO Technician II as outlined in Dept of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) TP-18.

+ Ability to travel extensively to client sites and/or project locations nationwide as part of essential duties. + Candidate must have valid driver’s license in good standing, HAZMAT endorsement preferred. + Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. + Ability to pass a pre-employment physical and background check. + Ability to obtain a

DOJ-ATFE

Employee Possessors clearance. + Must be fluent in the English language

  • Education and Training
  • + Minimum high-school diploma, general education degree (GED), or equivalent.

+ Certificate of Completion from a qualified UXO training course of instruction, OR graduate of military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school; PLUS minimum 3 years prior military EOD and/or commercial UXO experience in munitions response actions or range clearance activities. + Must have OSHA 40-hour

HAZWOPER

training in accordance with

OSHA 29 CFR

1910.120 and current 8-hour annual

HAZWOPER

refresher.

  • Physical Requirements
  • + Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds on occasion and to stand, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods of time over rough terrain and while carrying field equipment.

+ While performing duties, will often be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, humidity, moisture, dusty, and/or noisy conditions. + May enter areas containing toxic chemicals or chemical munitions or be exposed to moving machinery and/or mechanical parts. + Must be able to work 100% onsite in Eglin AFB in Florida.
