Job Description:
The Visual Arts Department seeks a Fine Art Studio Technician to manage and maintain the Wood, Metal, and Fiber Studios, Printmaking Studio, Painting Studios, and other shared art-making spaces within the Visual Arts Department facilities.
Responsibilities include:
performing routine maintenance and repair of equipment, tools, and facilities; train students and monitors on safe usage of tools and technical aspects of fabrication; organize storage of tools and materials, oversee check out of tools; oversee monitor schedule and responsibilities; monitor all Fine Art Building studios; maintain orderly and clean facilities; maintain safe storage and proper documentation of hazardous materials; source, order and manage delivery of equipment, supplies and materials and maintain stock levels. Requirements:
Candidates must have experience maintaining woodshop equipment. Experience and interests maintaining Metal tools, Industrial Sewing Machines, and/or digital 3D Fabrication tools [Shaper handheld CNC] is preferred but not required. At the University’s discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be excepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
