Production Operator General Summary:

Position is responsible forthe set up and operation of equipment whichblends/mixes/packages/transports liquid or dry chemicals thatcomprise our customer products. Position ensures the highestquality product at the lowest possible costs while meeting customerspecifications and delivery requirements in accordance with companypolicies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Sets up, starts and runs all machinery, checking all controls foradherence to operating/safety procedures and ISO standards. Weighsingredients to meet recipe specification and inserts intomachinery, or ensures the correct ingredients are delivered to thework area and inserts pre blended materials into machinery.

Monitors production and equipment to ensure safe and efficientoperation. Troubleshoots equipment and processing issues. Operatesmachinery to mix, extrude/discharge or handle materials accordingto operating procedures. Examines materials visually or physicallyto ensure conformance with established standards. May take samplesof materials to lab for evaluation and instructions on any batchadjustments if needed. Refers issues/problems to Production Lead orProduction/Shift Supervisor for disposition. Performs all requiredmachine cleaning. Completes and maintains all required systeminputs/transactions. Responsible for data integrity. Documents workcompleted as required including logs, data reports, procedures,etc. Participates in training, retraining and continual improvementprocesses and methods. Follows and complies with all safety andwork rules and regulations. Maintains departmental housekeepingstandards. Other duties as assigned. Physical/Environ. DemandsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularlyrequired to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; use handsto finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk and/orhear. Occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequentlylift and/or move up to 55 pounds and occasionally handle up to 250pounds. Specific vision abilities may require close vision,distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,and the ability to adjust focus. Requires the use of safetyequipment as dictated by the work area such as safety glasses andshoes, dust mask, hard hat, respirator, face shield, hearingprotection, chemical suit, gloves, aprons, etc. The noise level inthe work environment is usually moderate with the exception of highnoise areas. Proper personal safety equipment needs to be usedwhile performing this job and that equipment is dictated by theplant safety guidelines. While performing the duties of this job,the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions,dust, fumes, airborne particles, chemical dust, and risk ofelectric shock, vibration, non-hazardous chemical agents andoutside weather conditions. Regularly exposed to moving mechanicalparts and fumes or airborne particles. The employee is frequentlyexposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxicor caustic chemicals and risk of electrical shock.
