General Summary This hands-on position is responsible for the daily supervision and oversight of the chemical processing/compounding area. Primary responsibilities include coordinating daily work assignments, facilitating process improvements, documenting processes and procedures, adhering to quality standards, training of existing and new personnel, delivering performance feedback and reviews for the compounding crew, maintaining the chemical raw material inventory, tracking production and batch output, working with planning to create scheduling efficiency, and assisting with chemical processing and troubleshooting batches. The Compounding Supervisor must work closely with quality control and will also act as the department representative for various meetings and projects.
Primary / Key
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Develop and lead a team to achieve manufacturing, quality and continuous improvement goals through training, coaching, performance management, and effective communication. Coordinates and monitors the chemical processing areas, tanks and various work activities of the Compounding Team. Ensure daily cleaning / sanitation is being performed to quality standards. Facilitates continuous process improvement and executes activities designed to improve quality, efficiency, and output. Keep a tidy, well organized area using Kira Labs S6 standards while maintaining 95% scoring results. Creates, documents, and maintains consistent procedures and processes. Assigns documentation creation for procedures and work orders for the department. Manages the chemical inventory maintaining a high standard of inventory control, record keeping, and materials storage. Supervises material movements of the raw material inventory in the physical warehouse and in the digital control system. Responsible for tracking batch production, output and key performance indicators such as Kilograms per week and and rework percentage. Communicates and works with the Master Scheduler to create scheduling efficiency and adjustments to the Compounding schedule. Monitors and executes plan for schedule attainment ensuring daily and weekly production targets are consistently met Processes routine paperwork such as inventory adjustment forms and shop orders. Assists Research & Development with new formulation scaleup, “Pilot Batches” and integration of new or alternative raw materials Work with quality assurance to make adjustments as necessary during shift to produce finished goods within specifications Provides training to new and existing personnel. Delivers performance and disciplinary feedback to the Compounding team. Assists with chemical processing and troubleshooting batches, as needed to meet production requirements Conduct employee performance reviews, deliver feedback and coach employees in a timely manner. Responsible for headcount utilization to include: staffing levels, workcenter assignments/rotation, employee training, employee breaks, overtime assignment, and backup for absent employees. Schedule and conduct employee and shift meetings. All employees in the Operations division must assist each other during peak times or when directed by your supervisor. Experience and Qualifications Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Minimum Experience:
5 years in liquid processing facility Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Good oral and written communication skills. Strong mathematical skills and understanding of weight and measurement conversion. Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate well and handle conflict in a mature and professional manner. Ability to lift 50 lbs. and operate a forklift/other material handling equipment. Ability to organize and work efficiently in a multi task environment. Flexible and able to quickly adapt in a changing environment. Proficient with computer hardware and software (MS Office, LX, and RF scanning equipment) Ability to train, lead and mentor other personnel. Flexible and can work in a fast paced environment Well Read on FDA Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and related safe chemical handling.
