The requirements of the position include working with assorted chemicals (acids, bases, anhydrides, glycols, etc.) in both liquid and powder form; therefore, the ability to wear personal protective equipment (respirators, hard hats, eye protection, gloves) is a job requirement. In addition to operating forklifts other job skills include the ability to drive a yard truck to position bulk trailers for loading, operating pumps and drumming equipment, opening and closing valves, and chemical spill response. Driver/helpers spend a significant amount of their time at work filling drums, totes, and bulk trailers with liquid resin or supporting reactor and material blending operators. The support will include staging both dry and liquid materials in drums and supersacks for addition to reactors and blend tanks. To accomplish this a driver/helper must be able to operate specialty hoists and work around and with heavy packaged or drummed material. The filling of containers requires the ability to use computers, digital control systems, and specialty software for printing labels or shipping papers. DOT certification through the company is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

– Loading/unloading bulk product to or from tanker wagons for shipments to Polynts varied customers. Employees in this job position will be responsible for yard truck, truck weigh scale, tanker wagon preparation, and load operations. This includes sampling of material for lab analysis during several points of the loading process. In addition, the driver/helper role will ensure the requirements of the sales order/bill of lading, which include weight limitations, samples, color slugs, labeling, and trailer weights are correct, and all paperwork associated with these procedures are complete. – Filling of bulk materials in totes and drums utilizing computer controlled/assisted packaging station(s) with material transferred from both blending and reactor operations. This includes sampling of material for lab analysis during several points of the packaging process. Utilize computer software to produce labeling that meets both customer and regulatory requirements for shipping materials. Ability to pre-stage empty containers for filling assuring labeling information is applied correctly and delivering the material to the raw materials storage area by forklift. – Assist the reactor and blend operator when moving, retrieving, or charging dry bulk raw materials to chemical reactors or product blending tanks using forklifts, pallet jacks, and electric hoists. Will act as an independent double check of operators for verifying that the proper raw materials, valve lineups, paperwork, and weights of said materials were transferred or added to process batches. Will understand and utilize the first-in first-out of raw material inventory. – Complete all training requirements of the position. This training includes but is not limited to; mobile equipment uses and operations, process equipment and operations, safety training that includes PSM (process safety management), DOT training for shipping of hazardous materials, ISO-9001-2015 requirements, and

HAZWOPPER.

The ability to read, understand, and apply chemical plant related standard operating procedures and equipment instruction manual. – Complete minor troubleshooting of equipment, enter work request for equipment or facilities that are outside of normal parameters, maintain housekeeping within work area and mobile equipment, support maintenance as necessary by providing safe work permits and lock-out tag-out support. Complete other duties assigned by production supervision and management.

Knowledge and Skills:

Basic computer skills including data entry, Microsoft office, internet navigation. Ability to work with machinery, including pumps, valves, and instrumentation. Thoroughness and attention to detail in recording data and ensuring safe and efficient operation of equipment. Effective skills to communicate with supervisor, coworkers, and engineers. Basic math and writing skills.

Education:

High school diploma (GED) with 2 – 5 years work experience in an industrial environment or associate degree in science, technology, or business 0 – 2 years’ work experience.
