Job Title

Position Overview

Position Objective:

To run the Turf continuous line, guiding other associates to ensure that the machine runs efficiently and in a safe manner.

Essential Duties:

(Considering job knowledge, job environment, effort, manipulative skill, judgment, safety knowledge, and responsibility):

  • Follow all plant safety rules and regulations with respect to your job. These include LOTO, Arc Flash, LTO Safety, PPE and Walkways.
  • Guide a group of associates on a continuous line operation that will tuft and coat a field.
  • Small part changes and some light mechanical work
  • Manage the main console for the entire continuous machine.
  • Prepare for shift start up by checking the reactor, warming chemicals, purge system, test spray, etc
  • Record weight checks
  • Perform Instron Testing
  • Responsible for Lab Samples
  • Perform end of shift duties (clean up, reactor shut down, flush spray heads)
  • Change out totes for chemicals
  • Enter roll information in system
  • Communicate with Operators
  • Must be able to work with other machine personnel to ensure the machine is running efficiently.
  • Perform backing changes when needed.
  • Ensure all production paperwork is documented correctly and turned in at the end of shift.
  • Creel when necessary
  • Ability to learn and coach on the coating side of the process
  • Work with chemicals safely
  • Drive lift truck to move totes
Non Essential Duties:

  • Perform other non-quality-related duties, as directed by Supervisor/Department Manager
  • Assist R & D with samples and TPR’s.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Basic computer skills.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand for the majority of an 8 hour shift
  • Must be able to climb steps several times per day
  • Must be able to walk through the plant several times per day
  • Must be able to withstand exposure to changes in both temperature and humidity
Other Requirements:
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of management, supervisors and associates.
  • Must be able to work well under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to recognize various types of defects.
  • Must be able to perform tasks quickly and safely.

  • General mechanical tools (wrenches, sockets, etc)
  • Recipricating saw
  • Measuring Tape
  • Computer
Safety and Security Requirements:
  • Always wear the proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for a task.
  • Abide by and plant safety rules and regulations
  • Know evacuation routes and gathering points
  • Always be cautious of lift trucks traveling throughout the plants.
  • Immediately report any and all quality, safety, or mechanical issues to the supervisor on duty.
  • Follow all dress code guidelines.
  • Keep all loose articles away from machinery.
  • Practice general housekeeping and keep work areas clean.
  • Always use proper lifting techniques.
  • Report any injuries to your supervisor or nurse immediately.
  • Keep all creel gates closed unless yarn is being set up or removed from the creel.
  • Do not stand on the conveyer or lean against the creel gates.
  • Do not throw yarn packages or tubes and do not drop heavy objects from the top creel.
