Full Job Description Shift:
Evening (3:00 PM•11:30 PM) Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. This critical role ensures that surgical instruments and medical equipment are cleaned, sterilized, inspected, and distributed in accordance with the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Instrument & Equipment Processing Collect, clean, disinfect, and decontaminate instruments following AORN, AAMI, and TJC guidelines. Operate sterilization and cleaning equipment (e.g., washer-decontaminators, ultrasonic cleaners, sterilizers). Inspect and assemble surgical instruments and trays accurately. Select proper sterilization techniques and verify with chemical indicators. Sterilization & Monitoring Load/unload various sterilizers (steam, gas plasma, peracetic acid). Perform and document biological and diagnostic tests; initiate recall protocols when needed. Report and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions with the Biomedical department. Inventory & Distribution Scan, track, and deliver sterile supplies throughout the hospital. Respond promptly to urgent instrument/tray requests. Monitor stock levels and report inventory needs. Compliance & Safety Adhere to all infection control protocols and hospital safety procedures. Maintain strict confidentiality and a safe, clean work environment. Engage in ongoing performance improvement and team training activities.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or GED (required)
Experience:
Minimum 400 hours of hands-on sterile processing experience (required)
Certifications:
Required:
CRCST (Certified Registered Central Service Technician) or CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician)
Preferred:
Basic Life Support (BLS)
Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of surgical instruments and handling protocols Basic computer proficiency Effective communication in English (written and spoken) Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
