Able to lead production shifts by filling roles from operator to Group Leader (during absences). Duties and responsibilities Lead/give direction to a team to achieve volume and yield targets (one machine) Analyze the source of problems and implement proper countermeasures Communicate effectively across teams, staff, and management Perform all coating operator job functions Prepare production reports (handwritten and computer data entry) Train Operators OSHA HazWoper course/ability to respond to emergencies Assume group leader responsibilities in the absence or unavailability of the group leader. Take an active role in quality control activities: Generate Initial Process Inspection data and records Act on all non-conformances found Report any discrepancies to management and/or QA Actively participate in all improvement plans such as 5S, and kaizen. Coordinate and monitor the flow of raw materials in and out of production. Coordinate and monitor the flow of WIP and finished goods. Coordinate and assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and processes. Perform inspections and monitoring of all production activities and ensure the safety of the operation. Ensure team member transactions and paperwork are properly completed and maintained. Assist with/complete end-of-shift reporting and data collection. Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent experience
Preferred:
Associate degree in Technical field or equivalent.
Preferred:
1 year of experience as a coating operator of similar experience Demonstrated high performance as an operator (1 year), or previous experience in a leadership role. Experience in chemical mixing/blending operations preferred. Excellent attendance and communication skills. Demonstrated reliability and responsibility. Proven Decision-Making Skills and analytical skills Proven leadership skills Must be able to operate appropriate test equipment and react to the readings generated or displayed on monitors, gauges, panels, or sensors. Must be able to use and read instruments including: micrometers, microscope, light table, hand tools and other specialized equipment used in Print Media coating. Perform mathematical calculations including percentages, multiplication and division. Operate a personal computer (PC) and software relevant to the job. Must be able to work in a team based, high stress production environment. Must have adequate vision to inspect product for small defects and take appropriate corrective actions. Must be able to handle multiple tasks at one time and prioritize appropriately. Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner. Supervisory Responsibilities This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities but will direct work assignments and communicate with the GL/supervisor regarding team members’ performance. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for 12-hour shifts. The employee is frequently required to walk, bend, reach and twist. The employee must occasionally operate a fork truck. The employee must occasionally climb and squat. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. The employee must occasionally push/pull carts of approximately 1,000 pounds. The employee must occasionally work in confined spaces. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee must be able to wear respiratory protection as needed in close proximity to solvents. A Hazmat physical is required for this position. Safety Requirements Physically able to pass the spirometry exam for test fitting of respiratory equipment. Ability to wear required PPE (including safety glasses, gloves (nitrile, canvas, etc.), hearing protection, ANSI-approved footwear, and others as required.) in any manufacturing area.
