Videos Duties The primary functions of the Lead Pharmacy Technician technical support functions in outpient pharmacy collaborion with other operional pharmacy sections. He/she applies judgment based on substantial experience in outpient pharmacy processes and carries out the full range of technical support functions in the pharmacy Duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following: Coordining the outpient workload activity and establishing a consistent process for stocking, dispensing, mailing, shipping and tracking REMS drugs and high risk/high-cost medicions and supplies. Receiving and developing an innovive system to track multiple processes including those involving drug shortages and CMOP rejects due to supplying and backorder issues. Coordining processes between the outpient pharmacy and procurement teams for drug shortages. Demonstring the ability to solve problems and make recommendions, e.g., troubleshoot operional problems for outpient automed equipment and initiing approprie action. Assists formulary management team in utilizion management of supply items, including processing requests, dispensing, and shipping. Assists formulary management team in genering utilizion reports using CDW tools, including SQL and Power Bl. Assists formulary management team in tracking and monitoring specialty medicions provided through third party pharmacies, including serving as a liaison with the procurement staff. Reads and interprets outpient orders, obtains proper medicion or merial in the proper strength and dosage form of the medicions, affixes proper label. After a final check by a pharmacist, dispenses medicion through the outpient pharmacy window, pass or discharge situions. Fills controlled substances, following all inventory and record-keeping procedures. Demonstres knowledge of approprie handling and mixing of hazardous chemicals and drugs. Orienting and training VA pharmacy technicians to Pharmacy Service Policies and Procedures. Serves as an effective preceptor/instructor for trainees (students, technicians, volunteers) conducting on-the-job training, oriention and in-services Conducts ward inspections by inspecting inpient wards areas for proper storage of medicions and documents findings on inspection report form. Performs substantially all sterile technical operions in the IV rooms of the pharmacy, which serves all areas of the outpient clinics sterile compounding needs. Receives, reviews, interprets, and prioritizes provider’s orders for IV medicions after verified by a pharmacist. Strictly adheres to aseptic technique procedures and performs normal preventive maintenance for the special IV equipment. Prepares non hazardous and hazardous parenteral admixtures in the form of large volume, small volume, infusion syringes, ophthalmic and other complex pharmaceuticals Other duties as assigned.
