THE OPPORTUNITY

This person will be part of the Anode Materials division and will report directly to the Production Manager. The Mechanical Process Specialist (MPS) will be primarily responsible for the day-to-day operation, troubleshooting, and support of the mechanical processing equipment used to prepare raw materials prior to thermal processing. This position will work directly with the operations group and will lead a 12-hour rotating shift crew dedicated to mechanical operations and support. In the role of Mechanical Process Specialist, you will be joining a world-class Engineering Team that delivers innovative solutions to tough problems. Please note that as our company evolves, working arrangements, locations, and hours may change to meet business needs.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Directs start up activities of the mechanical processing equipment, those include a crushing system for raw coke, milling & shaping equipment, and blending and sieving for finished product Directs material movement activities including material entry times, material movement rates, and material types Monitors all performance aspects of the equipment during operation and adjusts as needed based on operational data Interact with databases and computer software, document all operational steps in an electronic shift log Observe, identify, and correct abnormal operational functions (sounds, smells, odors, etc.) Ability to perform minor tasks with basic hand tools, as needed Read and understand P&IDs, as needed Perform continuous communications with operators, management, and engineering Follow all company policies with regards to health, safety, environmental, quality, and performance. Is responsible for the process output and energy efficiency of the mechanical equipment Lead the mechanical operations crew the MPS is embedded with Makes recommendations to management for process continuous improvement opportunities Works closely with the Engineering department on cost reduction opportunities on the mechanical equipment and its processes Assists the engineering department during the startup and commissioning of new equipment, as needed Assists the maintenance department during equipment repair activities, as needed Generate and publish end of shift reports using a standard report template Other duties as assigned

Attentive to detail, able to digest large quantities of data, make connections between the data, and execute process changes based on those connections Able to demonstrate experience in sound decision making A highly motivated natural leader, someone who is a self-starter Someone who works and communicates well under pressure, and can make, execute, and justify operational decisions Comfortable communicating with a broad spectrum of associates, including operators, engineers, managers, contractors, vendors, and supervisors A critical thinker, always looking to improve the equipment, process, and operation Proficient in oral and written communication skills, including Microsoft 365 Able to multitask and work without immediate supervision Able to work in a fast-paced environment, and able to work 12-hour shifts as needed to support a 24/7 operation In possession of a valid driver’s license Passionate about creating and maintaining a great work culture Willing to go the extra mile to get the job done and to satisfy customers/stakeholders An effective coach and mentor To be considered for this role, candidates must have the following: A high school graduate, or GED, post-secondary school preferred An experienced process operator with a minimum of 4 years of process operation experience. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience operating and managing milling/shaping process equipment, material crushing equipment, or finishing equipment that blends and sieves And it would be extra awesome, if you also have: Experience starting up or commissioning new equipment Carbon, battery, or graphite manufacturing experience Experience working in a cross-functional team to achieve common goals Familiarity with a MES is preferred but not required One dream.
