POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Membrane Operator to oversee and manage the membrane filtration processes in our industrial milk processing plant. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of membrane technology, quality control, and operational efficiency in a dairy processing environment. The Membrane Operator plays a vital role within the production team and requires a comprehensive understanding of all production lines and equipment, along with the ability to resolve operational issues promptly. Strong problem-solving skills are needed to identify and resolve technical issues as they arise. This position is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of manufacturing processes, as well as performing routine cleaning and maintenance of production process equipment. In addition, this position is expected to maintain accurate, timely, and complete documentation in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and sanitation standards, while also monitoring and ensuring that performance metrics are consistently met or exceeded. Effective communication, both verbal and written, is essential in this role. The Membrane Operator also supports the team and the Production Supervisor in the training and development of team members as assigned. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and committed to maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and operational excellence throughout the production process.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Completes pre-operational checks on all equipment before starting a process. Checks components of raw materials and finished product in accordance with published SOPs. Reviews department and system performances daily and offers ideas and suggestions on how to improve the quality of the product or process. Follows published SSOP’s for equipment and processes. Collects all samples in accordance with SOP’s. Completes all work instructions, production log sheets, and sanitation log sheets accurately and in a timely manner. Operates equipment in accordance with SOP’s. Makes correction-based system outputs and operational data. Monitors and documents chemical additions and consumption compared to standards. Informs supervisor of any issues or concerns. Initiates daily CIP of process lines and support equipment. Verifies CIP systems performance. Arrives for work on time and ready to help operate the business successfully. Starts, operates, and cleans process and equipment in accordance with the production plan. Offers ideas and suggestions on “How to Improve” the process and System SOP’s, SSOP’s and Sanitation Program. Complies with all OSHA and plant published safety regulations. Submits ideas and suggestions on how to improve safety. Communicates safety issues and concerns to the Production Supervisor. Participates as a team member and treats others in like manner. Supports greater employee involvement and actively participates in operating the shift. Utilizes shift pass-down and plant meetings to communicate your ideas and suggestions for improving plant operations. Learns new concepts and accepts and embraces change. Completes other projects as assigned.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
Required:

High school diploma/GED or equivalent work-related experience.

Experience:

Prior experience with Membrane systems is highly desired. Production plant environment experience a plus. Industrial production operator experience is a plus.

Skills:

Must be team-oriented. Be able to support others while achieving goals. Good written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

Excessive ascending and/or descending of ladders and stairs using feet and legs and/or hands and arms on a rare occasion. Body agility is emphasized.

Walking:

Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for short distances on a regular basis.

Stooping:

Bending body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist on a regular basis.

Reaching:

Extending hands and arms in any direction.

Pushing:

Using the upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward.

Pulling:

Using upper extremities to exert force in order to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.

Kneeling:

Bending legs at the knee to come to rest on the knee or knees occasionally.

Crouching:

Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.

Lifting:

Able to lift up to 15lbs on a regular basis and up to 75lbs occasionally.

Talking:

Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Includes activities in which they must accurately, loudly, or quickly convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers. Subject to up to at least 92db’s.

Subject to extreme heat:

Temperatures above 100 degrees.
