Job Description
CNC Machine Set Up Operator – Operate and configure 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machinery for production tasks.
Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions to determine proper cutting tools, speeds, and feed rates. Start and set up machines based on set up sheets, ensuring you are checking displays to detect any malfunctions.
Review orders and drawings to determine specifications. Mount and align cutting tools. Monitor machine functions, such as cutting depth, feed rate, and coolant flow, to ensure quality and prevent damage. Load and unload products, ensuring correct orientation of the product.
Stop machine and adjust settings and tools as needed.
Regularly inspect workpieces using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify dimensions and tolerances. Accurately complete all paperwork according to company policy.
Perform routine machine upkeep, including replenishing fluids and clearing chips.
Transfer finished parts to designated storage or shipping locations.
CNC Machinist Qualifications and RequirementsHigh School Diploma/GED5 years of related experience preferred.
Strong understanding of CNC machining operations and basic functions.
Proficient in reading and troubleshooting CNC programs, especially for complex prototypes.
Competent in blueprint interpretation, utilizing Key Dimension Check Lists for precision.
