Lathe CNC ProgrammerResponsibilities The Lathe CNC Programmer is responsible forprogramming operations and related activities, including support ofemployees, machines, and resources. This individual is a latheprogramming subject matter expert and collaborates with departmentstaff while demonstrating the following: Possesses and maintains astrong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to work withothers, including reporting to the shop foreman and GM. Exemplifiesand enforces shop policies to ensure compliance within thedepartment. Mentors other employees to foster a learning/sharingenvironment while maintaining best shop practices and adherence tocompany policies within a team of 10 machinists. Providesavailability to answer questions and solve problems. Regularlyoffers constructive feedback and encouragement, conducts annualreviews for each employee, and recommends or issues disciplinaryactions when needed. Writes programs using CAM software based onspecifications from the Engineering Department. Programs new jobsusing Mastercam. Programs, sets up, and operates
Mazak and Okumalathes:
Selects, aligns, secures, and removes fixtures, tools,attachments, and materials based on setup sheets (which theProgrammer may write or support authoring of). Recognizes, deploys,and uses proper inserts, fixtures, and tooling; uses gauges andprecision measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements;performs drilling, boring, tapping, broaching, threading, andgrinding. Performs first article inspections using recognized QApractices. Reports any issues to the shop foreman and maintenancepersonnel where machine performance may be concerned. Continuouslyworks to optimize machine and personnel performance to reducedowntime and inefficiencies. Maintains up-to-date knowledge ofmachine and tooling technologies. Coordinates daily with the shopforeman and GM. Works with Procurement to manage supplies andlogistics, and tracks material and inventory, including replacementtools, parts, and equipment. Designs jigs, fixtures, multi-partholdings, and templates to increase production efficiency. Learnsand improves upon established practices and instructions to enhancedepartmental efficiency and productivity. Lathe CNC ProgrammerQualifications 5 years of experience as a Lead CNC Programmer,including machining and using Mastercam, with 2 years in aleadership role preferred. Familiarity with Mazak and Okuma lathesis a plus! Formal machining training or completion of courseworkfrom an accredited trade school is preferred. Strong skills inprogramming, problem-solving, analytics, mathematics, mechanicalsystems, planning, organization, interpersonal communication, andleadership. Mechanically inclined with knowledge of metallurgy,geometry, and basic trigonometry. Ability to lift 50 lbs safely,maneuver materials using a pallet jack, and operate grinders.
Punctual and able to commit to a 40-hour work week, with occasionalovertime available. Hardworking, reliable, and team-oriented.
