Programmer Job Description We are seeking a skilled Programmer who excels in planning machining processes by interpreting work orders, blueprints, and engineering plans. This role requires a keen understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances, as well as expertise in setting up and operating mills and lathes. Responsibilities Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters. Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances. Program lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points, setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches. Calculate machining requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry. Prove part programs with precision. Set up mills and lathes by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers. Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations, including turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing. Take measurements and detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, adjust and reprogram controls. Sharpen and replace worn tools while adhering to quality assurance procedures. Document actions by completing production and quality logs. Essential Skills Proficiency in CNC programming and operation of lathes and mills. Strong understanding of geometric dimensions and tolerances. Ability to calculate requirements using basic math, geometry, and trigonometry. Experience with live tooling lathes is preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Certification or qualification in CNC programming is desirable. Work Environment The work schedule is from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with opportunities for overtime on Saturdays.
