Rolling, spraying, trimming, brushing, caulking, prep work, site clean up, stucco work, and repairs. JLA Badge Required!
JOB DUTIES FOR PAINTER
Show up to Work “ON TIME” & “As Scheduled” Abrades surfaces of metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt, and to impart specified finish, using abrasive-blasting equipment. Shovels or pours abrasives, such as sand, grit, or shot of specified grade into machine hopper. Mask specified areas of object to protect from abrading reaction. Duties require loading parts on racks in enclosed rooms, onto blasting platforms, or into cabinets Controls valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle. Starts & monitors the equipment that directs blast or flow of abrasive-laden compressed air, gas, or liquid over surfaces of parts. Manually directs nozzle over surface of large parts or inserts arms through glove-fitted cabinet openings and manipulates small parts under nozzle for specified interval. Responsible for examining finished products to ensure conformance to specifications. Applies paint, epoxy, enamel, and other finishes to equipment, buildings, bridges, and/or other structures, using brushes, spray guns, or rollers. Applies primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces, such as different types of metals, for finish coats. Covers surfaces with drop-cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting. Protects the surrounding environment by adhering to the best management practices associated with task procedures. Always have a positive attitude towards customers being serviced as well as ACI as a company. Sweep work area daily or as needed, to ensure safe work area for all
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A PAINTER
: 1 year of painting/blasting experience Set up portable equipment, such as ventilators, exhaust units, ladders, or scaffolding. Operate lifting or moving devices to move equipment or materials to access areas to be painted. Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from surfaces in preparation for paint application, using abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters. Fill small dents or scratches with body fillers and smooth surfaces to prepare materials for painting. Apply rust-resistant undercoats and caulk and seal seams. Layout logos, symbols, or designs on painted surfaces, according to blueprint specifications, using measuring instruments, stencils, or patterns. Must know how to hook up and disconnect equipment, regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through the nozzle or into tumbling barrel. Masks specified areas object to protect from abrading action. Select paint according to company requirements and match paint colors, following specified color charts. Pour paint into spray guns and adjust nozzles and paint mixes for proper paint flow and coating thickness. Select the correct spray gun system for the material being applied. Verify paint consistency, using a viscosity meter. Spray prepared surfaces with specified amounts of primers and decorative or finish coatings. Use brush to hand-paint areas in need of retouching or unreachable with a spray gun. Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes. Allow the sprayed product to dry and touch up any missed spots. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers or power equipment, using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths. Clean equipment and work areas. May examine finished parts to ensure conformance to specifications Dispose of hazardous waste in an appropriate manner. Forklift experience is a plus Other duties as assigned
