Mon-Thu Required/Preferred Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in automotive or boating gel coat painting processes. Military painting experience using Low Observable (LO) or CARC paints is a strong plus.
Position Overview:
As a Fabricator/Painter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the preparation, coating, fabrication, and assembly of materials used in production and prototype components. You will apply protective finishes, operate specialized equipment, and handle a wide range of materials while ensuring high-quality results in a safety-conscious environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Apply protective coatings (air-dry or baked) using spray guns and/or brushes. Clean various metals (e.g., cadmium, copper, tin) using electro-plating processes. Operate sandblasting and tumble blasting equipment for surface preparation. Fabricate composite structures using carbon fiber materials. Set up and operate injection molding machines, including mold installation and process monitoring. Conduct quality checks and make adjustments to ensure consistent production standards. Perform complex layout tasks without templates for the fabrication of components using various materials such as ablatives, plastics, foams, resins, rubbers, and metals. Maintain ovens, presses, bonding equipment, and other processing tools according to defined procedures. Mix paints, lacquers, and enamels to specified viscosities, including custom color blending as required. Inspect and prepare surfaces prior to painting, including masking and cleaning. Perform post-paint treatments such as etching, curing, or baking as needed. Conduct manual touch-ups and rework using spray equipment and/or brushes. Carry out immersion processes such as cleaning or irriditing as applicable.
