Painter Quality Control Tech Schedule:

Monday through Thursday,6AM to 4:30

PM Plus Overtime Pay:

$18-20

Position Summary:

Applysub-coatings and finish coatings to all metal components andfinished product. Fulfill all painting requirements to include fromparts painting to complete vehicle paint, both in solid andmetallic colors. Mix all products according to specifications.

Check all painted materials for proper surface condition and properpaint preparations and repair as required

Duties & Responsibilities:
Inspection and Testing:

Conduct thorough inspections ofautomotive paint finishes to evaluate their quality, appearance,and adherence to specifications. This includes examining paintedsurfaces for defects such as color variations, runs, drips, orangepeel texture, scratches, and other imperfections. Utilize toolssuch as paint thickness gauges, color meters, gloss meters, andvisual assessment to measure and evaluate paint quality.

QualityAssurance:

Ensure that automotive paint finishes meet establishedquality standards, both in terms of appearance and performance.

This involves comparing paint samples against color swatches andperforming tests to assess durability, adhesion, and resistance tofactors like weather, chemicals, and UV exposure.

Documentation andReporting:

Maintain accurate records and documentation ofinspection results, including photographs and detailed descriptionsof defects or non-conformities. Report findings to supervisors,production teams, or other relevant stakeholders, and providerecommendations for corrective actions or process improvements.

Process Monitoring:

Monitor the automotive painting process toidentify potential sources of defects or variations. This includesevaluating paint mixing and application procedures, monitoringenvironmental conditions (e.g., temperature, humidity), andensuring proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment such as spraybooths, guns, and drying ovens.

Calibration and Maintenance:

Calibrate and maintain inspection equipment regularly to ensureaccuracy and reliability. Perform routine maintenance tasks onpaint testing instruments and coordinate with the calibration teamor external service providers for proper instrument calibration.

Problem Solving and Troubleshooting:

Identify the root causes ofpaint defects or non-conformities and work collaboratively withproduction teams, engineers, and paint suppliers to resolve issues.

Analyze data, conduct experiments, and implement corrective actionsto improve paint quality and minimize defects.

Training andSupport:

Provide guidance and training to production personnel onproper paint application techniques, defect identification, andquality control procedures. Offer support in resolvingpaint-related issues and promote a culture of continuousimprovement in paint quality. Compliance with

Safety andEnvironmental Regulations:

Ensure compliance with safety guidelinesand environmental regulations related to automotive paint processesand waste management. Follow proper handling and disposalprocedures for hazardous materials and adhere to safety protocolsto maintain a safe working environment.

Requirements:

Strongknowledge of automotive paint systems, application techniques, andindustry standards. Familiarity with paint testing methods,equipment, and quality control processes. Attention to detail andthe ability to identify and assess minor defects in automotivepaint finishes. Understanding of color matching principles, paintcuring processes, and surface preparation techniques. Analyticaland problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve paint-relatedissues. Good communication skills to report findings, collaboratewith teams, and provide training or support. Knowledge of safetyprotocols and environmental regulations related to automotivepainting. Ability to work independently and efficiently in afast-paced production environment.
