Shift:
Sunday 11PM to Friday 7AM. This comes with a $3 shift differential per hour for working 3rd shift.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Powder Coater to join our team. The successful candidate will supplement our automated spray booth on an automated conveying line with a 5-stage wash process. Using Gema spray guns, the Powder Coater will apply powder coatings to aluminum extrusions, ensuring high-quality finishes. The role requires collaboration with a team of 7 to 15 operators to achieve daily production targets while maintaining strict adherence to safety and efficiency standards. Responsibilities:
Powder Coating Application:
KPI:
Ensure at least 98% uniform coverage with no more than 2% rework required. Assist in the operation of the automated powder coating spray booth using Gema spray guns. Manually touch up and coat areas missed by automated systems. Monitor and control coating thickness, ensuring even coverage and high-quality finishes.
Pre-Treatment and Preparation:
KPI:
Complete pre-treatment processes with a 100% accuracy rate in accordance with company standards. Assist in the 5-stage chemical wash process, including degrease, rinse, zirconium conversion coating, rinse, and sealant stages. Prepare and properly hang aluminum extrusions on the conveyor line for optimal coating application.
Quality Control:
KPI:
Achieve a defect rate of less than 1% on finished products. Inspect parts for surface defects and ensure they meet quality standards before and after coating. Conduct routine checks and make necessary adjustments to Gema spray guns to maintain optimal performance. Record and report any defects or issues promptly to prevent production delays.
Maintenance and Safety:
KPI:
Maintain zero incidents of safety violations and ensure equipment is operational with less than 1% downtime. Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of spray guns and other equipment to prevent malfunctions. Adhere to all safety protocols, including the proper use of PPE. Maintain a clean and organized work area to ensure a safe working environment.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
KPI:
Demonstrate effective communication and coordination with team members, achieving 100% adherence to production schedules. Work closely with the shift supervisor and team members to optimize workflow and meet daily production targets. Provide support and guidance to new operators, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Performance Criteria:
Minimum of 1 year of experience in powder coating or a related field preferred. Familiarity with Gema spray guns and automated conveying systems. Strong attention to detail and the ability to perform precise and consistent work. Basic mechanical skills and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues. Ability to lift and move heavy objects, and stand for extended periods. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
