Job Purpose:

A Gel Coat Spray and Automotive Paint Applications expert is responsible for applying gel coat to mold surfaces, ensuring a smooth and even finish. As an automotive paint application expert, you will be required to prepare, clean, apply topcoat clear coat paint systems to FRP and Aluminum parts. This role requires attention to detail and technical skills in operating spray equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

Surface inspection for damage such as cracks, chips, and scratches Cleaning and preparing surfaces. Mixing gel coat materials according to specifications to ensure proper consistency and color Operating spray guns to apply gel coat evenly over surfaces. Adjusting spray equipment to achieve the desired thickness and finish Inspecting coated surfaces for defects and ensuring they meet quality standards. Performing touch-ups and repairs as necessary to achieve a flawless finish Cleaning and maintaining spray equipment and tools to ensure they are in good working condition. Apply primer and sealers to enhance adhesion and durability. Masterfully operate spray guns and other equipment to apply primer, base coats, and clear coats. Select and mix paints to achieve a perfect color match. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to ensure safety and efficiency. Adhere to all safety regulations and use personal protective equipment (PPE) properly. Stay up to date on the latest painting techniques and technologies.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Proficiency in using gel coat spray guns, including adjusting settings for air pressure, fluid flow, and fan pattern. Ability to mix gel coat materials to the correct consistency and color. Skills in cleaning and preparing surfaces before applying gel coat. Knowledge of proper spraying techniques to ensure an even and smooth finish Applying gel coat evenly and accurately to avoid runs, sags, and other imperfections. Attention to detail. Proven experience as an auto paint sprayer, preferably in a collision repair or restoration setting.

Paint Application Skills:

Expert in paint mixing, matching, and application techniques. Proficient in using spray guns and related equipment. Keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality. Strong understanding of paint types and their properties.

Paint Application Attributes:

Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent level of training Experience in a similar role such as working with fiberglass in a manufacturing environment or autobody is preferred. Familiarity with operating and maintaining spray guns and related equipment is crucial. Must have Automotive Paint experience 2yrs minimum. Must have Familiarity with

Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally. Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time. Must be able to wear respirator. Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
