JOB DESCRIPTION JOB CODE
To provide skilled work at a journeyman level in the installation, repair and maintenance of electrical, electronic and pneumatic controls systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from an accredited high school or trade school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in electrical, electronic, or mechanical trade. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications. Possession of a valid Florida Driver’s License.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of the electrical, electronic and mechanical trades, methods, procedures and techniques. Knowledge of basic air conditioning/heating systems and pneumatic and electric controls. Knowledge of the practices, methods, materials and tools commonly utilized in the repair and service of air conditioning/heating equipment. Ability to interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints. Ability to read, interpret and work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, specifications and operating manuals. Ability to locate and adjust defects in electrical, pneumatic and electronic systems. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions of the trade. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform journeyman level duties in installation, repair, alteration and maintenance of electrical service panels and systems, pneumatic and electronic direct digital controls systems. Work independently and review upon completion for compliance with instructions, established standards, and electrical codes. Locate and adjust defects in electrical, pneumatic and electronic systems. Maintain records of daily work and record accurate time and payroll information. May be required to return to work when problems are encountered on off-shifts and weekends. Follow safety standards in performing work and report unsafe conditions to Lead/Manager in a timely manner. Travel outside of Manatee County as required in the performance of duties. Perform other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is exposed to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee frequently will work irregular or extended work hours while performing the duties of this job. The employee regularly is required to lift, hold, carry, sit, stand, walk, climb crawl, bend, stoop, apply finger dexterity, grasp, feel, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear, and rely on visual acuity. The noise level in the work environment can be high at times. Safety is the highest priority.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District’s approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.
