Job Description:
P&C Technician with at least 1 year of experience isresponsible for the maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting ofelectrical protection and control systems. They work in industrieslike power generation and distribution to ensure the safe andefficient operation of electrical equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
System Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections ofprotection and control systems to ensure their functionality andreliability.
Testing and Calibration :
Conduct tests, calibrations,and functional checks on protective relays, circuit breakers, andother control devices to verify their performance.
Troubleshooting:
Diagnose and resolve issues and faults within protection andcontrol systems. Conduct advanced troubleshooting and root causeanalysis.
Device Configuration:
Configure and program protectiverelays and control devices as needed, ensuring they are set up toprotect electrical equipment and respond to faults appropriately.
Protection Relay Coordination :
Participate in relay coordinationstudies to ensure that protective relays operate as intended duringfaults while minimizing unnecessary trips.
Data Analysis :
Analyzedata from protection systems to identify trends, abnormalities, andpotential issues. Utilize advanced analysis tools and software.
System Upgrades :
Assist in the planning and implementation ofupgrades and modernization projects for protection and controlsystems.
Safety Compliance :
Ensure that protection and controlsystems comply with safety standards and regulations. Implementsafety interlocks and emergency shutdown systems.
Documentation :
Maintain detailed records of maintenance, testing, andtroubleshooting activities. Update and create technicaldocumentation as needed.
Collaboration :
Work closely with othertechnicians, engineers, and operational staff to ensure theeffective and efficient operation of electrical systems.
Qualifications :
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in electricalengineering or a related field is typically preferred. at least 1year of experience in maintaining and testing electrical protectionand control systems, preferably in industries like power generationand distribution. Proficiency in using advanced testing equipment,including relay test sets and oscilloscopes. Strong knowledge ofprotective relays, circuit breakers, and control systems.
Understanding of electrical safety practices and standards.
Familiarity with relay coordination principles and software tools.
Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellentcommunication and teamwork skills. A P&C Technician with atleast 1 year of experience plays a critical role in ensuring thereliability and safety of electrical systems by maintaining andtesting protection and control systems. Their expertise isessential for the efficient operation of electrical equipment,particularly in industries where electrical power quality andsafety are paramount Required PPE for this assignment: – Clothingmust be FR or made of 100 percent natural fibers . When enteringenergized transformer vaults and manholes the most outer layer ofclothing must be FR. FR jumpsuit/coverall is permissible. – Exampleof 100% natural fibers are cotton, wool, and leather. As anadditional precaution avoid wearing loose-fitting clothes that mayget entangled in moving machinery. – Work shoes w/steel orcomposite toed. Work shoes must comply with
ASTM 2413
standards. -Hardhat, Safety glasses, work gloves, at least Class 2 Safety Vest.
JSG will furnish basic PPE including hard hat, vest, safety glassesand work gloves. Employee will supply his/her own boots and fireretardant clothing. Some driving is required
