Training Based out of Buford, GA and reporting the the Controls Department Manager, the Control System Technician is responsible for completing tasks as assigned by his/her supervisor and the project manager responsible for associated projects.
These tasks include:
programming, start-up, troubleshooting, commissioning and servicing of Building Automation Systems (BAS) controlling and monitoring commercial building HVAC equipment. This person should also maintain open communications, deliver top quality workmanship, develop customer relationships, and complete tasks/projects timely. The Control System Technician will receive support from the General Manager, Controls Department Manager, Project Manager and other office personnel.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Database development and backups. Downloading programs to controllers. Equipment start-up and check out, including tuning control loops and calibrating field devices. Follow all standard installation procedures. Commission building controls system to meet project design. Ensure start-up/commissioning forms are completed for all projects. Complete project punch lists timely. Coordinate and document customer training. Mark up project drawings to document progress and changes. Meet project deadlines. Assist sales with estimates as needed. Complete service calls as assigned.
Required Education:
High School diploma and two-year technical training certificate.
Required Competencies:
Advanced Troubleshooting :
Capable of troubleshooting common Building Automation issues (e.g., Building Comm Loss, Network Issues, Failed Controllers, Sensors, etc).
Installation :
Install and configure building automation controllers, sensors, actuators, and communication networks. Verify system connections and ensure proper device addressing and communication.
System Diagnostics & Performance Optimization:
Ability to investigate Building Automation Systems, diagnose faults, and provide resolution.
Electrical Troubleshooting:
Ability to safely troubleshoot and repair BAS components like control circuits, controllers, and sensors.
Basic HVAC Knowledge:
Understanding of basic HVAC concepts, components, and systems.
Leadership and Mentoring:
Ability to mentor install technicians, providing on the job training and support.
Preventative Maintenance:
Perform and document preventive maintenance on Building Automation systems. Analyze system performance and recommend adjustments for energy efficiency and reliability. Problem-Solving in
Critical Systems:
Ability to handle emergency service calls and troubleshoot critical systems quickly. C ustomer
Interaction:
Communicate effectively with customers to explain service issues and solutions.
Documentation and Reporting:
Accurately complete service reports and recommend further actions to clients or management.

Ensure all work meets company and industry standards for quality and safety.

Physical Demands Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including electronic and diagnostic tools, recovery equipment, and various other plumbing equipment. This position requires:
stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, seeing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those of medium work. Work Environment This job operates primarily alone and travels to different work sites each day. May work in tight spaces, typically indoors, but may work outside in poor weather conditions. Vehicles are used as the base of operations.
