PDS Tech Commercial is seeking a skilled Set-Up Tear-Down Technician to support engineering and laboratory functions for a leading manufacturer of large-scale HVAC systems. Based onsite in Charlotte, NC, this 1st shift role is vital to preparing and maintaining the equipment used to test and refine the next generation of industrial chillers.
Your work will directly support production and development teams by ensuring precision setups, safe testing conditions, and reliable data—fueling innovation in real time.
What You’ll Do
As a Set-Up Tear-Down Technician, you’ll work under general supervision to prepare chillers for engineering tests.

Your responsibilities will include:

Setting up and tearing down test environments for large, water-cooled chillers
Connecting and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems
Operating, inspecting, and maintaining test setups to identify and resolve malfunctions
Calibrating instrumentation and ensuring accurate data collection
Handling laboratory supply management
Reading and interpretingplex schematics, electrical diagrams, and mechanical blues
Movinglifting up to 35 lbs as needed
Supporting electrical work, including 460-3-60 machinery and industrial power systems
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
At least 3 years of experience using hand and pneumatic tools
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
Ability to work onsite on 1st shift
Mechanically inclined andfortable working with industrial equipment
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with HVAC systems or largemercial equipment
Familiarity with refrigerant handling and EPA certification (a plus)
Knowledge of LOTO procedures and Arc Flash safety
Hands-on experience with pumps, VFDs, boilers, and related systems
Experience with instrumentation setup, calibration, and pressuretemperatureelectrical measurement
Familiarity with forklifts and overhead cranes
Strongputer skills for data entry and test documentation
