job summary:
A Electrical Controls Engineering Technician is needed for a manufacturing company considered one of the world’s leading innovators in materials science in the Wilmington, NC area. This role involves hands-on installation, troubleshooting, and supervision of mechanical and electrical systems for production equipment.

work hours: 8am to 5pm
education: Bachelors responsibilities: Perform hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment. Supervise and direct internal maintenance and external contract trades during equipment installation, demolition, testing, and debugging. Troubleshoot and perform process start-up, design, and documentation of Electrical and Controls Systems. Modify existing documentation to create complete drawing packages, installation checklists, machine part lists, illustrations, and machine specifications. Assess condition and usability of existing equipment with new installation plans. Execute initial equipment set-up and debug up to the point of turnover to operations. Provide second-level troubleshooting support, replacing defective components and executing changes in design to solve equipment/process issues. Procure and expedite materials for new or modified equipment. Assist in developing electrical installation checklists and schedules, and oversee their usage. Prepare work orders and direct maintenance personnel and contract trades in equipment fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation. Review and update installation documentation and drawings as required. Oversee drafting services or draftsmen to resolve design issues by redlining existing schematics. Provide training to internal maintenance and contract trades on new equipment installation procedures. Analyze and improve equipment installation practices to enhance efficiency, specifically installation schedules.
Desired Skills and Experience:
Education:
AAS or BS in Electrical Engineering Technology or related fields (equivalent work experience may be considered).
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years in a relevant role.
Required Education and Experience:
AAS Mechanical Engineering Technology, BS Mechanical Engineering Technology, or BS Mechanical Engineering (equivalent work experience may be considered) 3+ years of relevant experience

Skills:
Experience performing hands-on installation support for new or modified production equipment. Experience in troubleshooting, process start-up, and documentation of Mechanical and Electrical Systems for new or modified production equipment. Ability to supervise internal maintenance and external contract trades during all stages of equipment installation and conversion, including demolition, construction, testing, and debugging.
