Permanent Controls Technician Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Assists higher level technicians in surveying all machines and equipment on a regular basis, following daily, monthly, and annual preventive maintenance routines for major equipment.
- Assists in prioritizing work in response to equipment failures. Performs inspections and diagnoses problems accurately with minimal supervision at least 50% of the time. Executes plan to repair with minimal supervision at least 50% of the time. Is committed to “staying until the job is done”.
- Assists with monthly safety checks to stay in compliance with the ConMet safety program.
- Proactively assures that all equipment is safe for employees to operate. Replaces or repairs inoperable machine guards and/or safety sensors or malfunctioned equipment.
- Establish proficiency using micrometers, calipers, multi-meter, and other gauges required to inspect product.
- Proven understanding of ladder logic and control schematics, pneumatic, hydraulic, electric, and mechanical equipment.
- Assists in the “completion of work” for completed repairs and preventive maintenance action items; thoroughly documenting them in the pass down template Serves as electrical/mechanical technical support for the Monroe operations.
- Provides technical support for assembly operations and product testing such as endplay and ABS ring signal analysis.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment downtime, records solutions, and communicates results.
- Recommends and evaluates process improvements, error proofing, and lean implementations to improve quality and reduce costs.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills to rectify issues with minimal supervision at least 50% of the time, (examples below are not all inclusive): Electrical circuits and equipment in an industrial environment. Hydraulic and pneumatic systems. PLCs. Power transfer devices, pumps and gearboxes.
- Robotics maintenance and repair with minimal supervision at least 50% of the time.
- Proficient at MIG or TIG or stick welding.
- Wiring and soldering of small electronic components
- Assists with teardown and restoration of production equipment/cells.
- Maintenance of conveyor systems and hydraulic equipment.
- Operation of a forklift as needed to move and position components.
- Abides by all ConMet policies including quality/environmental policies with reference to ISO/TS work instructions.
- Abides by OSHA safety policies, including Control of Hazardous Energy procedures (Lockout / Tag-out).
- Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience
- Associate degree in engineering or related field from accredited institution, plus 2 years of relevant manufacturing experience in both manual and automated processes, or5+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing
