Job Description

Position Overview:

Butterfield is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and certified STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) Lab Teacher to join our Encore rotation team. This full-time position will engage K-4 students in hands-on, inquiry-based STEAM instruction that sparks curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity. The ideal candidate will foster a love for exploration while aligning instruction with district, state, and national standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Design and deliver daily STEAM lessons for students in grades K-4 on a rotating Encore schedule. Develop interdisciplinary, project-based learning experiences that integrate science, technology, engineering, art/design, and math. Use a variety of instructional strategies, tools, and materials—including low-tech and high-tech resources—to support diverse learners. Collaborate with classroom teachers and Encore team members to support and enhance core curriculum through STEAM integration. Maintain an organized, safe, and engaging STEAM lab environment. Incorporate the use of technology tools such as coding platforms, robotics kits, 3D printers, and maker materials where appropriate. Assess and document student learning and growth through formative and summative assessments. Participate in school-wide events, professional development, and data-driven instructional planning. Demonstrate a commitment to equity, inclusion, and a growth mindset.

Qualifications:

Valid teaching certification (K-6 or appropriate subject area). Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM/STEAM-related field, or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred. Experience teaching elementary students, preferably in a STEAM or project-based setting. Strong classroom management and organizational skills. Passion for innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning. Familiarity with

NGSS, ISTE

Standards, and design thinking principles is a plus.

Preferred Skills:

Experience with educational technology, makerspace tools, and digital fabrication. Ability to adapt and differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A team player who contributes positively to a collaborative school culture.

Working Conditions:

This position requires daily interaction with young children, use of various instructional technologies and materials, and occasional lifting of materials up to 25 lbs. The teacher will work in a well-equipped STEAM lab and rotate classes throughout the day as part of the school’s Encore schedule.
