Summary The primary responsibility of this position is to manufacture product to meet customer and HQAW requirements and contribute to continuous improvement. The Quartz Glass Fabricator is the first level of specialized production skill in the hot forming of quartz glass. This position requires a person that is skilled in the safe handling of quartz glass that may reach temperatures of up to 3000 degrees Fahrenheit and have the ability to perform skilled and complex glass working tasks. Responsibilities Shape and form quartz glass using techniques such as heat treatment and glassblowing. Operate lathes as needed. Inspect finished products to ensure quality standards and specifications are met. Perform routine glass-working tasks in the shaping, forming, and uniting of standard glass materials in the fabrication of simple quartz glass products. Join and seal quartz sub-assemblies and finished products using gas torches, hand tools, blow hose, manual pressure, and vacuum pumps. Read and interpret a variety of technical drawings, blueprints, etc. Requirements Proven experience as a Fabricator or similar role in a manufacturing environment. High School Diploma or equivalent. 3 years of experience with quartz glass, processing and fabrication. 5 years in manufacturing environment. 1 year experience operating a lathe. Excellent attendance and strong communication skills. Strong understanding of quartz glass characteristics and proper material segregation and control. Ability to use bench-top tools , burners, measuring, cutting, and shaping tools for precise fabrication. Ability to examine glass coloration for degree of internal stresses, using a polariscope to determine annealing requirements.
