Position Description:
The Champion Solderer Technician plays a vital role in our manufacturing process. This advanced position requires expertise in diverse soldering techniques, including through- hole components, SMT part placement, and jumper wire routing. Candidates must strictly adhere to Class 3 specifications and prefer IPC-610 Class 3 and
J-STD-001
Class 3 certifications. Key competencies include precise soldering and inspection using a 10X microscope, careful soldering iron tip selection, and meticulous component preparation. This is a key role in a clean, fast-paced, and team-oriented manufacturing environment.
Principal Responsibilities:
Advanced Class III Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and Through-Hole soldering techniques are required. Maintain or exceed quality standards while meeting or exceeding time standards. Visually check work in process for solder defects and make adjustments as required. Thoroughly clean printed circuit boards and associated equipment. Execute precision assembly and soldering of electronic components onto Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs), utilizing microscopes and specialized tooling. Manufacture microelectronic devices and fine-pitch components. Install, mount, fasten, align, and adjust parts, components, wiring, and harnesses to subassemblies and assemblies with hand and small power tools. Replace defective components and perform repair and overhaul procedures on existing devices. Operate machinery that will prepare through hole components for insertion and soldering. Operate and maintain soldering equipment such as soldering irons, hot air guns, hot plates, microscopes, and soldering stations Conducts thorough inspection and review of components and PCBs prior to and following assembly to verify proper assembly and quality standards. Read and comprehend technical work instructions, schematics, and safety documents with minimal to no guidance.
Essential Qualifications:
Conduct manual assembly of electronic components (resistors, diodes, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, switches, wires, etc.) to the highest industry standards (IPC-A-610 Class
III, J-STD-001
Class III) onto printed circuit boards. Expert hand solder SMT and THT components, including complex wiring assemblies. Damaged conductor and trace repair Correction of board delamination/blistering Base material and pad restoration including lifted/missing pads and plated through hole Component polarity replacement for
SMT, THT
without damage or burning components or boards. Working knowledge of Through-Hole Soldering, Surface Mount Soldering, Tack and Reflow Technique, Flood and Wick Technique, Tweezers Technique, Solder Bridge Technique. Perform advanced-level assembly tasks including prep, mechanical, harness & cable assembly, PCB sub-assemblies, spray applications, and inspection. Demonstrate knowledge of component identification. Responsible for performing fundamental assembly, inspection, and installation procedures for components in production line assemblies. Comprehensive documentation to accurately track order progress and assembler performance. Addresses assembly issues and communicates corrective actions to colleagues effectively. Maintains and repairs equipment and tools necessary for completing production orders, while upholding a safe working environment. Must demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and organizational skills. Must have proven experience using hand tools such as soldering irons, screwdrivers, pliers, cutters. Mentor and guide coworkers/new hires as required. Maintain a clean and safe work area. Maintain compliance with company safety policies by adhering to all established safety protocols and ESD procedures to protect sensitive electronic components. Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Computer literacy is essential, along with the ability to read, write, review, and approve documentation. Participate in company-sponsored and specialized training programs to enhance skills and professional development. Desired Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of three-years experience soldering and/or electromechanical assembly of PC boards including the following skills is required. Ability to identify electronic and mechanical components (i.e.: resistor color codes and mechanical hardware, etc.) Ability to interpret assembly blueprints and drawings. Ability to read and interpret assembly process documentation. Current Class III J-STD-001 and
IPC 610/620
training certifications or ability to obtain in 30 days is required. Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.

Employees will regularly alternate between standing and sitting according to their needs and will also endure lengthy periods of standing and walking. Tasks require bending, as well as pushing and pulling equipment throughout the facility and operating warehouse equipment. Proficiency with computer skills is also essential. Due to the physically intensive nature of this role, employees should anticipate spending the majority of their work hours on physical tasks.
Work Environment:
The manufacturing environment is maintained in a clean, temperature-regulated state, an overhead radio, and team efforts made to ensure safety, organization, and a positive atmosphere. Individual workspaces are assigned to each employee. Regular operating hours are established as 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. •Pay depends on Experience•Occasional weekend work may be required contingent upon business demands.
