Job Description
Electrical Technician Polypack Inc. 3301 Gateway Centre Boulevard, Pinellas Park, FL 33782 Polypack, Inc. manufactures innovative end-of-line packaging equipment for customers around the world. Established in 1959, Polypack remains privately owned with operations in the United States, France, and Mexico. Polypack, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Technician for its Pinellas Park, Florida manufacturing plant. This detail-oriented individual will be an important team player in creating a productive and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities:
Build industrial control panels with electrical devices (Circuit breakers, VFDs, relays, PLCs) Install all electrical components and route/terminate cable/wiring on machine according to the electrical schematic. Install pneumatic system (filter/regulator, control valves, pneumatic tubing) according to the pneumatic schematic. Terminate cabling to all components (sensors, valves, motors, etc) and secure cable/tubing paths to machine. Complete quality check and testing of the machine’s electrical system. Troubleshoot machines for problems. Create and apply wire, cable, device and machine labels. Meet manufacturing deadlines.
Competencies:
Understanding of basic electricity and electronics Must be able to read and understand electrical and pneumatic schematics. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Able to execute tasks in a very dynamic and ever-changing environment. Use of electrical tools (multimeters, soldering, wire stripping, crimping) Ability to work effectively with a diverse workforce.
Requirements:
- Experience working with electrical systems (24VDC to 600VAC)
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards (NFPA, UL) is a plus
- Panel builder experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Standing for multiple hours.
- Bending over and climbing on small ladders to access various parts of machinery.
- Crawling into tight spaces inside the machine to work.
- Working while kneeling down.
- Laying on back or side of body to reach different parts of the machine.
- Fine motor skills required to cut wire, strip insulation, solder, label and screw-tighten connections to terminal blocks. Also required to use hand-tools and power tools to tighten/loosen bolts.
- Reaching above head for small periods of time.
- Brief lifting and positioning of electrical panels into electrical enclosures, sometimes with multiple people.
